In established industries barriers to entry may be high\, making it difficult for new entrants to gain traction.  Anne and Lisa have funded and guided startups in the healthcare space\, an industry filled with barriers including government regulations\, extensive research costs\, and established players.  Attendees of this  event will get advice on how to navigate industries with high barriers to entry and discuss business models that create barriers for other entrants.\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Speaker\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Anne DeGheest \nAnne pioneered the HealthTech or Digital Health space as an entrepreneur\, angel investor\, corporate advisor and mentor capitalist. The companies she has founded and advised have created new market categories and have grown to over $6 billion in market capitalization. As an advisor to large corporations and entrepreneurs\, Anne’s experience dates back to 1986\, when she founded MedStars Ventures Partners.  In 2010\, she founded HealthTech Capital\, a new ecosystem between private angel investors\, venture capitalists and industry to fund and mentor new “HealthTech” companies that empower patients and decrease healthcare cost.\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				About the VLAB Founders’ Series\nFounders’ Series events provide a unique opportunity for startups and technologists to take part in an interactive session.
