About Carl Showalter

Carl Showalter brings a wealth of experience in the areas of the Internet of Things, network virtualization, next generation wireless, and data center/cloud infrastructure software. His investment portfolio includes many exciting startups including Panzura, SpiderCloud Wireless, Arraynet and Vertascale. Before joining Opus as a founding General Partner, Carl was a General Partner with Lightspeed Venture Partners. Prior to this, Carl served as Vice President of Marketing at Juniper Networks. Before Juniper, Carl was Vice President of Dial and Broadband Services for UUNET, overseeing the 300-person, $1B revenue division. He also held various sales and management positions at ANS, an AOL company, where he helped build AOL’s modem access network and then helped launch hardware-based firewalls and IP VPNs in the mid 1990′s.

Opus Capital is an early stage, IT-focused venture fund that invests in startups focused on building big businesses leveraging trends around the cloud, mobility and big data.

About VLAB Founders Series

Founders Series events provide a unique opportunity for early stage startups and technologists to take part in an interactive “office hours” style session, so come prepared with your burning questions! Several startup founders are invited to take the “Hot Seat” on stage, where they each have the opportunity to ask Carl questions and receive feedback, specifically about their startup idea, execution, or positioning.

Application process for the Founders Series event with Carl Showalter:

Apply here to the Founders Series event (application is brief and painless…we promise!)
Purchase a ticket. You will receive an email with a link where you can register for the event by purchasing a ticket (Early Bird price: $25, Regular price: $35).
Event location notification. Once you have purchased a ticket, you will receive an email with event location 48 hours prior to event.
Hot Seat finalists. If you have requested to be a “Hot Seat” candidate, semi-finalists will be notified no later than 24 hours prior to the event date. All Hot Seat semi-finalists will be requested to have a brief discussion with VLAB Founders Series Chair/Co-Chair prior to event. Final selection will be announced at event.
