Greetings from the 2013-2014 VLAB Executive Committee!
As we head into our 23rd season, we are looking forward to welcoming you into our community of over 25,000 Bay Area influencers. We have a fantastic line up of events planned for the year ahead. Starting off on Tuesday, September 17th, we will explore how the adoption of the Common Core Standards in 2014 will catalyze a new wave of innovation in K-12 education with our first official event of the year, the EdTech Tsunami: Common Core Disrupts K-12. To follow on our kick off event, we will be hosting an event with our friends at Sikorsky Innovations on Tuesday, September 24th as we identify entrepreneurial opportunities in the aviation market and learn how those that defy gravity are also defying traditional thinking in The Overlooked Customer for Your Aerospace Startup.
Moving into October, we will host an event on the 15th about The Battle for Privacy: Rights vs. Economics and learn more about the startups that are trying to secure our data, protect our web traffic and encrypt our communications. Will they succeed, or do we live in the age where privacy is forever lost? In late October, we will be hosting our first Founder’s Series event of the new year with Carl Showalter, General Partner at Opus Capital. This will be an exclusive event for entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs to receive advice from an industry luminary who has domain expertise in enterprise infrastructure, big data, SaaS and the Internet of Things.
